Martinón is the only remaining resident of Auzal, a mountain settlement in which he lives in harmony with the surrounding environment. Only twice a year does he make the journey to the lowlands in order to trade and shop for provisions. However, one day he is persuaded to marry a wife, which is a decision that is designed to soften his hardened soul; however, in some respects, his real struggle has not yet begun.
