Overview
Ellen is an American television sitcom which aired on the ABC network from March 29, 1994 to July 22, 1998, comprising of 109 episodes. Ellen Morgan's title role, played with comedian Ellen DeGeneres, was a drunk bookstore owner in her thirties.
The series dedicated to Ellen's dealing with her family, her quirky friends and the problems of daily life. The series is well known for being the first one where the main character came out as gay, which DeGeneres' character did at the 1997 incident"Puppy Episode". This event received a wonderful deal of media exposure, controversy that was ignited, and prompted ABC to put a civic advisory at the start of every episode.
The series' theme song,"So Called Friend" is by Scottish band Texas. There was A gag that every incident had a opening credits sequence, resulting from Ellen's ongoing search for the opening credits.
