Karen is a harsh, corn-fed farm manager who cares about her employees and the migrant workers she employs. When one of her farmhands contacts her about a missing small child, she grows closer to her workers than she ever imagined. Karen's bubble explodes when her sweetheart, Annabelle, vanishes, and she conducts an inquiry, only to unearth something sinister in the small village where she grew up.
