It rains before the boundary, although two families attempt an daredevil intend to escape the GDR using a hot air balloon. While the two families are forced to assemble a new escape balloon the Stasi starts investigations and finds traces of the endeavor to escape. With each passing day the Stasi is closer in the heels -- a race against time begins.
